Laws serve a purpose.
1 Timothy 1:8-11
Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding
this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and
disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for
those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually
immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and
whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of
the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted. (ESV)
The principle stated above applies to any law, religious or
civil.
If you break the law, you are a lawbreaker and therefore a
criminal. It doesn’t matter how “good” people may think you are, you a still a
criminal and subject to the punishment under the law. It doesn’t matter what
the law is. If you are under the law, then you are subject to it and its
penalties.
If you break into a store and rob it, you are a criminal. If
you steal someone’s property, you are a criminal. If you destroy someone’s
property, you are a criminal. If you beat someone up, you are a criminal. When
you riot (steal and destroy property), you are a criminal. If you take someone’s
life by unlawful means, you are a criminal. If you illegally enter into this
country, you are a criminal.
Period!
